Tip of the Week

Make sure your photos are 300 dpi or better. What does that mean?

It means DON’T pull your photos off your website. Use the original photos from your digital camera, or scan color prints at the highest resolution your scanner will allow.

Warning: Low-Resolution Images Don't Print Well!

Many images, particularly 72dpi jpegs taken off the Internet, look jagged and blurry when printed on paper, especially glossy stock. Those images have already been reduced in resolution so they load fast on the internet, and you can’t go backwards to make a low resolution file into high resolution. You need to start with a high resolution file. For best results, we recommend that your images be at least 300dpi (dots per inch). The best thing to do is send us the original images from your digital camera.

To get good images from your digital camera, use the highest quality setting available on the camera.

If you're like most folks, the fascination and luxury of your home are significant matters. Home interior decorating may not be the primary thought on your mind every day, but most of us entertain home decor ideas if they fit into our budget and style. But, how do we make choices from the uncounted of options that are on hand today?

It might seem that mixing seemingly-clashing styles isn't in favor, but in fact it's quite common. In the bathroom, for instance, sheeny glass pedestal sinks are perfectly comfortable about sharing space with Victorian clawfoot tubs. Why not enjoy the nostalgia and fascination of the past while glorying in the efficiency of today? After all, a castle might be beautiful - but only if it has indoor plumbing!

A favored room in which to invest capital and time is the master bedroom. Since we spend approximately 1/3 of our lives in bed, it is natural to yearn for a luxurious place to sleep. And naturally, the more comfortable our bed, the better we will sleep at night, hence our current love affair with magnificent sheet sets and down filled comforters. For those who don't yearn for to spend the extra money, there are less expensive comforter sets that add fascination to any bed without breaking the budget.

In the past, there were very strict 'rules' about decorating. For instance, all furniture in a room was supposed to match and only certain colors were honored. Today, these ideas are more relaxed. It's OK to furnish a room with swank pieces and classic favorites like Tiffany table lamps. First created by the famous Tiffany family in the early part of the 20th century, these glowing jewels have been popular for decades.

Because energy costs are taking off, bed quilts are becoming increasingly more popular both as decorative accessories and functional warmth.

When thinking about energy and warmth, we mustn't slight a terrific invention of today - the portable fireplace. Unlike the built-in chimney and hearth, these beauties can be installed in any room and are completed by a terrific looking fireplace mantle and tools.

The outside of the house can be renovated, although routinely not as quickly because outdoor painting and/or siding is expensive. Adding drama, such as a cupola with a classic weathervane is inexpensive and untroublesome and will make your home stand out from all the others on the block.

One place to begin is the kitchen, rightly known as the heart of any home. Unless we're into spending piles of money, we're routinely stuck with the walls as they are. However, there are piles of ways to personalize your kitchen. For instance, a fresh sink or kitchen faucet can dramatically transform your room without investing much cash. Add a kitchen cart and you've got a fresh kitchen with drastically increased space.

Another significant spot in the home these days is the bathroom. Designers advise us to transform it into a retreat or a personal spa. The hottest trends in bath decorating these days are glass sinks which come in a multitude of styles and colors. To go with your fresh sink, manufacturers have designed out-of-this-world bathroom faucets that are more like art than plumbing.

With a bit of creativity and some methodical planning, we can all have homes that are warm, companionable and quite comfortable. Doing research and keeping up with home interior design trends make this both fun and personally satisfying.
